Alsace
Alsace: The Soul of Our Wines
At Union Sacré, Alsace isn’t just place, it’s an influence—it’s the spark that lit the fire. This corner of northeastern France captured our imagination with its delicate balance of beauty and grit, its culinary soul, and its wines that seem made for friendship and long meals. Alsace is where Xavier’s love for wine was born.
It’s no coincidence that the wines of Alsace are often defined by contrast. Cold climate, warm sun. Noble varietals, everyday charm. Bone-dry Rieslings that somehow feel luxurious. That unexpected tension is what hooked us then—and it’s what drives us still. We don’t make replicas of Alsace wines. We make wines in conversation with them, shaped by Central Coast vineyards and California sunshine, but guided by an Alsatian spirit of elegance, intimacy, and joy.
What’s an Alsace House?
A winery inspired by the traditions of Alsace, France—making dry, expressive wines from noble varietals with elegance, balance, and food-friendliness at heart.
Our Alsatian-style Wines
We make the wines we love to drink: dry, expressive, and food-friendly. Each bottle honors the elegance and nuance Alsace is known for—without losing sight of where we are.
You’ll find varietals like Gewürztraminer, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Sylvaner, and Pinot Noir—all crafted with minimal intervention and a focus on balance, vibrancy, and drinkability. Grown in California, but always tipping a hat to Alsace.
The Stork: Our Winged Emblem
The stork is an elegant, majestic bird—and in Alsace, it’s practically sacred. Every year, migrating storks flock to the region, where they’ve become a staple of local folklore. If you see one nesting on your house, it means good fortune. And if you see one on a sign outside a shop, it means you’re in for some excellent, traditional Alsatian food and wine. Across Europe, people recognize the stork emblem as an embodiment of the region’s culture, community, and the pride Alsatians take in their work.
Union Sacré brings those same values to the Central Coast, through the lens of Xavier’s individualistic spirit. His wines pair Alsatian tradition with the low-intervention, innovative winemaking practices he loves—his very own definition of beauty.
